Despite growing support for women entrepreneurs, many interventions still treat WSMEs as a uniform group. To address this gap, the Argidius Foundation, Dutch Good Growth Fund, and We-Fi, in collaboration with ConsumerCentriX, developed a practical segmentation framework and toolkit to help stakeholders tailor products and services to the diverse needs of WSMEs.<\/p>

Based on research conducted in Pakistan, Uganda, and Colombia, the framework segments formal WSMEs by projected revenue growth, high, moderate, or low, rather than by size. It identifies key growth drivers and environmental factors that influence business outcomes, enabling more effective support and smarter gender lens investing.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

This toolkit guides practitioners through six key steps, each supported by downloadable tools. It begins with assessing the external environment and market offerings, then moves on to understanding WSME needs, segmenting clients, analyzing portfolios, and quantifying market size and business potential.<\/p>

At the core of this toolkit is a new segmentation framework that goes beyond conventional categories like business size or sector. Instead, it classifies women-owned and led small and medium enterprises (WSMEs) based on their projected revenue growth and the motivations of the entrepreneur.<\/p>
